How do I apply for my Non-Restricted or Restricted PAL?
In order to apply for your PAL you are required to attend and pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course for Non Restricted License or if you choose for a license for Restrited firearms then you must take both the Non Restricted and the Restricted Firearms Safety Course.
Once you have completed these courses you will receive an official document described as a Course Report. This is proof of your successful completion of the course. your instructor will give you all necessary documentation to complete and mail in to the Canadian Firearm Center to be processed.
A newer and much faster way is to apply on line through the R.C.M.P website. The online application can be processed and have the Licence issued in 8 weeks or less compared to up to 8 months for the mailed in application.
Here is the link to apply on line:
With the changing laws and regulations many firearms have been added to the prohibited list. There are still many long guns that will fall under the restricted category that you could possess. For these specific firearms you would require a RESTRICTED POSSESSION AND ACQUISITION LICENCE.
